The National Memorial Day Parade 

The National Memorial Day Parade, held annually along Constitution Avenue in our nation’s capital – Washington, DC – shares the story of American honor and sacrifice from across the generations. The parade is our nation’s largest Memorial Day event, drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators to the National Mall to pay tribute to those who have served, are serving, and most importantly those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in service to our country.

The National Memorial Day Parade is a moving timeline of American military history, honoring those who have served and sacrificed from the American Revolution to the present day. It draws on the tradition of Memorial Day parades, going back to the beginning of the holiday just after the Civil War, to create a family friendly event aimed at calling attention to the true meaning of Memorial Day – honoring our fallen heroes.

Running for Heroes 5K

DSS is a Silver Sponsor of the Annual Wounded Veterans Relief Fund 5k Run/Walk, 5/11 honoring those who are serving and those who have served our great country. Raising funds to help our Florida Veterans that find themselves homeless or on the verge of homelessness. WVRF provides veterans with housing and transportation assistance, activities, and resources to help them find their new "normal". Their mission is: To provide emergency financial assistance and professional services to qualified, disabled Florida veterans in order to save lives and keep families together. 

Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C. 

Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.
