The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is currently in the initial stages of a critical effort to its mission, which is developing a strategy to completely redesign and modernize its supply chain.
The VA Supply Chain manages the flows of all goods, services and information between stakeholders, including within the VA, external suppliers and service providers, all the way to the Veteran and their family, who is the ultimate customer.
How We Can Help.
DSS, Inc. has the ability to help the VA to build a solid roadmap to supply chain transformation and modernization, as a solutions provider and a systems integrator. Since 1994, DSS, Inc. has been a trusted partner to the VA — with every VA Medical Center using at least 9 DSS, Inc. solutions across clinical and business service lines. We have a strong understanding of the VistA, that will continue to be relied upon and must be accounted for in the construction of an enterprise-wide supply chain for the VA.
DSS’ experience will provide the VA with capabilities to adopt new and innovative technologies while keeping critical legacy systems operational. We realize that legacy systems will be subject to a modernization (and potential replacement) effort as well and can also provide expertise with these system migrations. This will minimize disruptions with Veteran care for both patient and provider.
We recommend developing a fully interoperable, easy to operate, and comprehensive supply chain management solution based on proven technologies within the marketplace, ultimately enabling a “system of systems” for all functional users.

In 2016, DSS was awarded the national contract for Logistics and Prosthetics Suite (L&P), which has realized increased system efficiencies around supply chain management processes. L&P includes DSS Above PAR and DSS Advanced Prosthetics Acquisition Tool (APAT):
Above PAR improves workflow processes dependent on AEMS/MERS, the Generic Inventory Package (GIP), and Work Orders. Above PAR dashboard tools and audit/reporting features enable cost management, auditing and increased reporting efficiency and flexibility.
DSS’ Advanced Prosthetics Acquisition Tool (APAT) is a VistA-integrated software application that fully automates the purchasing workflow from start to finish for departments that procure prosthetics, orthotics and other sensory aides.
