Contracting Officers: Celebrating the Unsung Heroes at the VA
As the often unsung heroes at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VA contracting officers are responsible for the procurement of solutions that span everything from cleaning supplies to medical equipment to complex IT solutions.
In addition, with Q4 of the government fiscal year upon us, this is an incredibly busy time for all government contracting officers. On average, in Q4, government agencies spend approximately $165.5 billion, which usually accounts for more than 30 percent of the overall annual FY spend.
Government-contracting officers are highly detail oriented, have the ability to work well with many people, and are always looking ahead to project timelines and requirements. Most important, they ultimately serve the mission and protect the best interests of the federal government.
VA contracting officers also play the vital role of supporting the agency’s overall mission, as well as its national strategic priorities, which are Customer Service, MISSION Act, Electronic Health Record, Business Systems Transformation, and Suicide Prevention.
All of this is no small task. This is why the DSS, Inc. team would like to thank all VA contracting officers for their hard work and dedication – especially with the Q4 contracting crunch officially upon us. It's time for the spotlight to be shown on these unsung heroes at the VA!
