PODCAST: Maintaining Veteran Engagement and Care During the Transition to VHA
In this episode of the Fed Health Forward podcast series, Dr. David LaBorde, CEO, Iconic Data Inc. and senior advisor to DSS, Inc., and Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen, a new strategic advisor to DSS, Inc., discuss strategies for effectively helping Veterans to transition from the Department of Defense into the Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA).
At The Spring 2022 DoD/VA & Government HIT Summit, Dr. David LaBorde and Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen, gave a presentation titled, “Transition from DoD to VA – Maintaining Veteran Engagement in Care Post-Transition.” The session highlighted the importance of ensuring that each Veteran’s first experiences with the Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) are positive.
A key part of ensuring a strong transition, where there are no gaps in care for Veterans, is to develop strategies for ensuring sustained engagement, and leverage solutions such as the DSS Iconic Data Suicide Prevention Manager (SPM). This solution offers a clinical business intelligence engine that allows for the observation of Veterans who have been identified to be at risk for suicide, and to identify, in real-time, potential defects in the Veteran’s care that may require intervention.
