DSS, Inc. Presenting Real-time, Performance Measure Driven Veteran Suicide Prevention at the AMIA 2022 Annual Symposium

Poster session to discuss real-time data solutions the VA is actively using to mitigate suicide amongst Veterans

JUNO BEACH, Fla. (October 28, 2022) — Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS, Inc.), a leading provider of health information technology (HIT) solutions for federal, private and public health care organizations, today announced that it is presenting at the AMIA 2022 Annual Symposium being held on November 5 -9 at the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington, DC. The Annual Symposium builds on more than 45 years of shared research and insights for leveraging health information and cutting-edge technologies to improve human health.

The VA’s Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (OMHSP) has developed policies that drive the standardization of suicide prevention care processes across all VA Medical Centers (VAMCs). In tandem with this, the OMHSP has rolled out process-based performance measures that enable the tracking and evaluation of VAMC compliance with these policies.

To address these performance measures and policies, David LaBorde, M.D., CEO, Iconic Data, Inc. and senior advisor, DSS, Inc., will hold a poster session at the Symposium on Tuesday, November 8 at 5 p.m. Titled “Real-Time Performance Measure Driven Suicide Prevention Care Monitoring and Care Delivery Enhancement in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs,” Dr. LaBorde will detail how to improve performance on VA OMHSP performance measures in real time and incorporate data visualizations into daily briefings.

The poster session shares data from the DSS Iconic Data Suicide Prevention Manager (SPM), which offers a clinical business intelligence engine that allows for the observation of Veterans who have been identified to be at risk for suicide, and to identify, in real-time, potential gaps in the Veteran’s care that require intervention. SPM also supports the VA’s continued journey towards becoming a High Reliability Organization.

Veteran care delivery is substantially enhanced when real-time performance measure data can be:

  • incorporated in to care workflows;

  • used to identify opportunities to improve care; and

  • utilized to drive workflow efficiencies that save care providers’ valuable time.

The poster session will help attendees understand and quantify the impact of such real-time performance data on VA systems. This real-time data empowers each care giver to more effectively treat and support Veterans.
