Patient Safety Awareness Week: DSS, Inc. Honors the Mission Every Day

Hosted by the Military Health System (MHS), Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW) is an annual event intended to encourage everyone to learn more about health care safety. PSAW has developed into a dedicated time and platform for growing awareness about patient safety and recognizing the work already being done by the healthcare industry.

The World Health Organization estimates that 134 million adverse events occur each year due to unsafe care in hospitals in low- and middle-income countries, resulting in some 2.6 million deaths. Some studies suggest that as many as 400,000 deaths occur in the United States each year as a result of errors or preventable harm. Many of these errors occur because staff carry large caseloads and manual processes are still too prevalent in healthcare.

Software-powered data visualization tools are an essential part of improving patient safety. When humans and machines collaborate, this paves the way to highly reliable, efficient care that can prevent many human errors.

Patient Safety Awareness Week celebrates past accomplishments with a focus on future potential. At DSS we’ve made it our mission to help build a safer future for patients, building innovative tools that tackle many of today’s persistent healthcare challenges:
