PODCAST: Going Beyond Clinical Decision Support at HIMSS20
In the following Sage HMS podcast interview, Todd Mingo, General Manager of Sales at Sage HMS, discusses the evolution of Clinical Decision Support (CDS) beyond radiology, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) to assist the imaging process, and how the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) can benefit from CDS solutions.
With the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) implementation for diagnostic imaging being front-and-center in 2020, providers are quickly moving towards using CMS-qualified clinical decision support mechanisms (qCDSM) to meet CMS regulations for claims payment in 2021.
But there’s much more going on these days when it comes to CDS -- moving outside of outpatient care or Medicare reimbursement efforts to streamlining all care. Also, next-generation CDS solutions will be generating a wide-range of patient data, and AI will be used to better extract the data to improve the quality of care.
In addition, federal health agencies like the VA can enhance their overall standardization of care through the use of CDS solutions – putting the best knowledge for the use of advanced imaging technology in the hands of all care providers. Leveraging DSS’ deep history of working in the federal arena, Sage HMS will be focused on driving the adoption of CDS throughout the VA in 2020.
